A hesitant knock broke the silence in the Palace of Luminion. When the door creaked open in Klepsydra's room, a cloaked figure stood there, carrying a large, wrapped canvas.

“It was meant for you.” they said, voice quiet.

With careful fingers, the fabric was drawn away - revealing the painting beneath.

Astraeus, golden-haired and striking, locked in an intimate, desperate embrace with Klepsydra. His strong arms cradled her, fingers pressing into her skin as if afraid to let go. Their lips met in a searing kiss, fierce yet aching with devotion. The sharp contrast of light and shadow carved their features in stunning detail, every line speaking of passion, of longing, of a love too deep to put into words.

The background burned in shades of crimson, a city barely visible behind them - Luminion, blurred like a half-remembered dream. They stood above it all, as if atop some unseen tower, suspended between reality and eternity.

A love captured in paint, frozen in time.

But as Klepsydra gazed deeper into the painting, as though seeking his soul within the brushstrokes, something within the frame caught her attention. A small piece of parchment, folded and carefully tucked behind the canvas, as if meant only for her hands to find.

It was a sketch - rough, unfinished, yet intimate. A face she knew too well. The other side of him. His other form, his sharp yet weary gaze, the scars burned into his flesh from the day he threw himself into battle to protect her. The strokes were careful, deliberate, capturing every detail of what he had become, of what he had endured for her. He had hidden this piece away, yet he had left it.

He left her three choices.

To remember him as the radiant elf, standing beneath the open sky with a love that would never fade.

To remember the man who had suffered, who had burned, and who had still, through all of it - loved her.

Or both.

I had commissioned art a month before my character's death. It was initially meant to be a portrait of Astraeus, but with his death I decided to change that and instead do something cuter and leave it to his partner, Klepsydra. Both pieces done by GrunkPedro.
