Introduction

This month has been a very industrious month for us, with major changes to the team and the way we develop software,
all the while still attempting to keep up our productive output.
There has been a significant expansion of the tech team, with the hiring of the new Tech Team Manager,
Martijn#3341 aka Ninjoh
as well as the addition of a new tech apprentice and member of the team: Appenzeill#2485

We've been busy at work on reimplementing some features that we have had before,
but that previously had to be disabled due to being very broken.
These reintroduced features have been written from scratch by ourselves and should now work reliably,
and they have some big improvements over their previous renditions.

Early in March we witnessed the server go through a major technical emergency, which ultimately resulted in two days of downtime.
During these two days, we worked long hours deep into the night, and it took a proper team effort to get the server back up and running again.
Because of this enormous effort, we've managed to handle this emergency without experiencing any data loss,
so that you, the players, could continue on as normal as soon as we properly reopened again!

Announcements
New Features:

Bookshelves

Bookshelves have been reintroduced with a brand new system written from scratch. Bookshelves now behave like containers that can contain a limited set of items!
A bookshelf has 18 inventory slots (2 rows), in which you can store the following items:
  • Book and Quill​
  • Written Book​
  • Enchanted Book​
  • Book​
  • Paper​
  • Scroll​
  • Open Scroll​
  • Scroll Stack​
  • Paper Stack​
Bookshelves are lockable. Players with no access to a locked bookshelf will open the bookshelf in read-only mode, allowing them to view the contents of the bookshelf and read the contents of Written Books by left-clicking on a Written Book in the bookshelf inventory.

Lockpicks
Lockpicks have been reintroduced with a brand new system written from scratch. You can right click any lockable with a lockpick to attempt to pick the lock.
A lockpicking attempt takes 10 seconds, after which you have a 15% chance of picking the lock. It is of the utmost importance that you hold completely still while trying to pick the lock, or the picking attempt will fail and the lockpick used in the attempt will not be returned.

Other Changes:
  • added nation mine for Imperio Valegro
  • added several new pets to the tokenshop
  • added the ability to add offline players to locks
  • totally reworked the ingame staff permissions and groups
  • changed the join message for spectators to differentiate them from whitelisted players
  • lowered price of pet owl to 400 tokens
  • limited horse jump strength to 0.6
  • removed boardgames due to problems
  • cleaned up the dynmap
  • cleaned up the physical world beyond the world border
  • moved to a different worldborder system
Bugfixes:
  • fixed warp crystal not being ignored in gamemode spectator​
  • fixed /combatcountdown targeting players in creative, spectator, god mode and vanish​
  • fixed 'you are too heavy to swim' mechanic affecting players in creative, spectator, god mode and vanish​
  • fixed horse trampling affecting players in creative, spectator, god mode and vanish​
  • fixed becoming stuck in GUI inventory menu in gamemode spectator​
  • fixed soulbound items being able to be passed with /itempass​
  • fixed duplicate playerheads in nationtool​
  • fixed an important bug with the blockpits causing severe lag or server crashes​
  • fixed the server crashes​
  • fixed /switchchar and /pk commands being difficult to use with character names containing quotes​

Looking forward

In the time coming, we will be working on the next major content update 'The Seed of Life', as well as a few other features.

We will also be slowly transitioning to a different - more conventional - set of technologies upon which we build our custom features,
to ensure our ability to expand and grow the team, thus ensuring the longevity of the tech team, and ultimately, the server as a whole.
