We reacted to our intrusion just in time. Meeting our foe on the bridge. This creature was ready, placing precise cuts to our armored bodies, wrapping us in vines of death, trying to spill our blood upon the crude stone bridge.
More came to join their injured comrades.
Arrows tear through the air and scar the walls of the cavern in the narrow passageway, this passage leading deeper into the much larger areas of the complex- and our home.

This creature tests our armor and resolve. Taking crushing attacks, you could hear the roar of pain and rage. Fighting through the searing punctures, a dozen more bodies join the fight. Human and Denur side by side pushing, screaming and winning. The tide was turning. It began to retreat from the animal they had awakened in us, realizing the fatal mistake it had made to not put us down when it had the chance.
Some men began to be picked off ahead, flung back and colliding with fellow soldiers and cavern gates yet only to stand once more and charge. Limping and growling, we continue to charge into it, pushing down like a farmer pushing the plow. Each push and crash of a shield felling, and dismembering, hungrily gnawing into its hard tissue and shattering its bone. Boots making sick slapping sounds as we tread through tar-like substances, sticky, as black as obsidian.

Its eyes widen as the creature breathes its last breath hissing from its lungs, The realization it has lost. And there at the front. In all his glory High King Grilthram, with one last call to charge collided with the creature. It fell to its death to be engulfed in the black waters beneath the ice. Disappearing in a death drop into the ice hell below. The others at our back are ready to get the captives of the vines and injured littering the floor out of what had become a battlefield. The stench of death is a sick irony, as the death-dealing enemies lay mutilated about the larger bridge into the city. Tributaries of their blood slowly wind across the grey stone underfoot, making sticky tracks to our main gate. Unbroken.
We had finally defeated a Scion of Zarzareth. But what if the real Zarzareth turns up? What then?

This paragraph was taken from Marshal Waranvil’s report.

Truly a battle for the bards to sing of, whether it be the Horde of Undead creatures of which we battled together in the shield wall stopping the flood from entering our city or once we cleared the breach being met with multiple Glooms. This time taking the fight to them, charging and dispatching them one by one. However the unholy Herald of Lilith swooped in with its destructive blows, but the peppering of arrows was too much for the beast. A song could be sung for each one.

Honorable mentions

High King Grilthram Runefist

For rallying the final push of the front lines, leading to the final blow needed to defeat the Zarzareth.

The proud Knights of Hadriana

Ser Cedric Reinhardt and Egon-Koenraad Von Aurvendil For coming to aid the Denur people for no reason but the defense of the people of Eden, and the destruction of demons.

W.D Halcoyon

For stepping up in the city’s time of need, as only a guest. Shooting and killing many a foe alongside the Denur

The Bastions of Dar-Ach Denur

Standing up to their duty to the people of the city

The clansmen

For if they had not stepped into the throes of battle, this glorious city would have fallen.
