The Bell of Purity

-oOo-
The Pure Lands of Luminion pulsed with life. Azari'cill went about in the light of The Mother and her light went with them. Into their homes, their business, their markets and out again. Though seldom if ever out from The Enlightened City itself. To many this was normal. To young Azari'cill it was difficult to conceive of a world outside Luminion. Surely if such a place existed it was a place of madness- like a fairly-land. The elder 'cill new better. though few knew much. It was good practice to tread only upon hallowed ground, and so much of the ground of Eden was tainted. From the Temple of The Silver Phoenix the voice of Ca'en rang out in sermon. The aged elf spoke of such things; of terra-firma, fantasy and a coming storm.

-------"Purity is like a bell. It rings out. With a sound noble and pure it reverberates throughout the open air, touching all things and gracing them with harmony and peace. So it is within the Pure Lands of the Azari'cill. Yet there are places the sound of this bell does not reach. It cannot be heard bellow the earth, beneath the sea, or behind a wall. Most often of all, the sound of purity's bell cannot be heard when it falls upon deaf ears. To all it has been invited to sound by The Mother's hand. Yet to most it is lost in the racket of ignorance, impurity and false gods."

-------"For generations the pure peoples of Azari'cill have stood vigil over the teachings of The Mother. Today The Enlightened Kingdom of Luminion is a pure and glorious bastion of faith. However, as adherents of The Mother it is our responsibility to enlighten all of Eden. We have greedily clasped teachings of The Mother all to ourselves. The bell of purity chimes crystal clear in the Temple of the Silver Phoenix, but its sound seldom reaches beyond the walls of our city."

-------"The reason being for this is that Missionary work has long been shunned. No more do the clergy of The Mother go out from our lands to spread the light of The Mother. We have greedily horded that precious light all to ourselves. In so doing the Azari'cil have unintentionally wreaked havok upon ourselves as well as Eden, depriving it of proper guidance. As The Mother's most beloved children it is our responsibility to assure the embrace of The Mother reaches all those willing to listen to the bell of purity. Yet even now a wretched voidal plague of death sweep over the land. As it does The Mother's light remains confined to a single narrow enclave. If change does not come and the lands beyond the the Enlightened Kingdom cannot be enlightened, they might fall into darkness. If that should come to pass, what then?"

-------"The conversion of Eden to the light of the Temple of the Silver Phoenix and the embrace The Mother is infinitely preferable to any alternative. Were all the races of Eden to join hands under one pure philosophy it would burgeon an age more magnificent than any that came before. Although, there is an alternative path. One that does not require the fall of a dark age. One that could be undertaken even now. Should an Age of Darkness fall it is certain that the Enlightened Kingdom would be embroiled in war. Whether it be by the hand of hateful and tiresome politics or a voidal host, manual conversion will become exponentially more difficult. The only way to assure the bell of purity sounds throughout Eden uninterrupted is through the complete eradication of impurity. But this should not be a bell that heralds the approach of an army. If the realm of Eden can not take the extended hand of Azari'cill then that hand will have no choice but to grasp the sword, but it should be seen as a last resort. At this moment we live in times of relative peace. Even as voidal shadows stir beneath our feet. Through the reclamation of Aerial by the Ashguard it is demonstrated that a bloody march is not necessary to turn aside darkness as long as the appropriate measures are employed while the opportunity to do so linger. It will in days to come be our responsibility to curate and cultivate the pure lands of our forefathers, but the window of opportunity to expand faith in The Mother is coming to a close. In its wake there will be left only the option of a bloody march. One that parallels the indiscriminate slaughter that opened the Age of Fallen Spires. It exists as an option- a most dreadful option, but it would be abhorrent to everything we have worked to preserve for millennia. As said by Caledonian I, the 'cill peoples should be prepared for war but never seek it."

-------"So at our disposal lies a diverging path. One forks toward enlightened peace. The other leads toward the path of necessary bloodshed. Which will The Enlightened Kingdom choose? In these times of ours many Azari'cill regard all other races with disdain. If these tendencies are not curbed one believes it would hasten the closing of our window, and the bell of purity will not be heard. None but The Mother can know for sure. Certainly the Azari'cill would travel the purest road available, but who is to say that those options would not be the lesser of two evils. Many evils now grip the peoples of Eden. One thing we do know for sure is that a new age is on the cusp of dawning. An age of darkness for the Azari'cill and perhaps all of Eden approaches. So it is spoken unto the Pure Lands of The Mother there comes to rise a dark age heralded by a rain of fire. It will be our burden from then on to chose. In the days to come will The Mother's children wall the path of the hand or the sword? We cannot know until the coming of the rain."
