Landrecht - Customary Laws

  1. Petty crime is established as the least intense crimes to be committed. These may include actions such as petty theft, small-time burglary, minor assault of a non-relative victim.​
  2. Low Law is established as the next level of crime by intensiveness. These may include trespassing, destruction of property, refusing to properly title a Lehnsmann, or impersonating any government or military official.​
  3. High law is established as the worst and most intense crimes to be committed. These may include actions such as defacing or otherwise desecrating holy sites and properties of the Church and its proprietors, acts of rebellion and treason or otherwise inciting such acts, usury, or the unjustified killing of another individual.​
  4. Lehnsmänner are to be exempt from prosecution of petty and low crime, unless perpetrated against the person or estate of a fellow Lehnsmänner. In this case, they will be tried in a special court presided over by the Herzog themself.​


Lehnrecht - Feudal Laws

The Lehnrecht of Finsterschen is defined by five Heerschilde, or in Common, five “army shields”.

Ministeralin - Ministers/Council
Lehnsmänner - Nobility
Ritter - Knight
Leibeigene - Serf

  1. If a Lehnsmann dies, then their property does not go to the Herzog; and if they had no sons, then the inheritance goes to their daughters.​
  2. The Herzog has the right to revoke the title of a Lehnsmann at any time with any reason.​
  3. Adoptees and legitimized bastards are not discriminated against in affairs of law, they will inherit as if they were legitimately conceived.​
  4. If a serf dies, then his property goes to the Herzog; if he has unmarried daughters then some of the property will be given to them for dowry; if all his daughters are married they do not inherit it.​
  5. A Lehnsmann is permitted to revoke any titles that their vassals may have, for any reason they seem fit.​
  6. A Lehnsmann has the right to raise a levy of able-bodied men in times of war.​


Stadtrecht - Town Laws

  1. A town has the right to a Landgericht.​
  2. Each town has the privilege of appointing its own local laws and ordinances, as long as these do not infringe on the appointed laws of the state.​


Gerichtsrecht - Judicial Laws

  1. Leibeigene have the right to elect their own Gerichtsherr within their village.​
  2. Each court will be overseen by a Gerichtsherr, who will be aided by a Gerichtsbote throughout. The appointed judge has final say in court procedure and decorum.​
  3. Lehnsmann are forbidden to interfere with the judicial process, as the Herzog oversees the Gerichtsherr directly. Those found to be in breach of this law will be charged.​


Kirchenrecht - Church Laws

  1. The institution of the Church has the right to prosecute any magic users of voidcraft. This includes but is not limited to hemomancy and necromancy. Users of voidcraft are to be labeled as witches by the church and should be stripped of all legal status and protections under the law.​
  2. The church similarly holds the honor of punishing those that deny or work against the faith, be these matters of heresy, apostasy, blasphemy, or syncretism.​
  3. Those that attempt to preach the ways of the old church, that of Hadriana, are to be similarly judged by the Church.​
