The 'lunn State of Mind

-oOo-
The Enlightened Kingdom had awoken. As though a great wind had rushed through the pure city to rouse the Azari, Luminion which had been dormant for months had suddenly begun to shift. Scinari'cilus Gaethifeth had disrupted- perhaps agitated her slumber and banished the days of silent prayer. Prayer now could be heard throughout Luminion echoing from the halls of the Temple of the Silver Phoenix. The holy books had returned to 'cill hands and hearts and their songs could again be heart while sermon was heard upon the tongue of Ca'en. And o' how their faith had been rewarded. Old tomes were uncovered by expeditions, new testaments were written and distributed by the Fraci, and the liberation of Aerial was ignited by the Theri'cill Aldir'tor for his glory. The efforts of the faithful had of late born many sweet fruits and they showed no sign of slowing down. With words of fervor and eyes blazing with fire the Azari'cill pressed forward into their faith in
The Mother.

-------"Much is said of purity these days. In days long since past there was not much said of purity. Those days were simple. Words of pure and impure did not cross the lips of the brotherhood of Azari. All that was; simply was, as it was without need for distinction. Alas, this was not to last and the brotherhood of the Azari fractured. The consequences of those events are felt today."

-------"Now we live in a world full of distinction. Of great and glory and of low station. The brethren Azari have been separated from one another along the lines of what is pure and what is impure. Azari'cill, noble and brilliant are the most pure. The Azari'lunn represent the extreme opposite of that. The “ 'lunn” as they are called' are that which is destitute and opaque. Our mother's grace shines upon them least of all. Such is their sorry state that 'lunn corruption has come into use as a byword for impurity. It takes on the phrase and context of a slur. It is a heavy word that weighs upon many a light silver lipped Azari'cill - metal upon the tongue. It reinforces the line which separates the pure from the impure."

-------"So what is an Azari'lunn exactly? Physically; they are an offshoot of our own Azari race. In short they are a'cursed. Their skin is a foul shade and they are inferior in stature to us. They are adapted to desert landscapes and their acclimation to the p o v e r t y wrought on them by their wretched allegiance has imbued them with a fierceness seen by many as grotesque. Their ears grow very long, hideous and malformed. Their digits stretch lengthy, fit for the grip of daggers and the meticulous work of poison craft. Their musculature is lean, bawdy, and thought by themselves to be provocative is truly immodest, barbaric, and beastial. By the Azari'cill eye they are a loathsome kind to behold - their sight offensive."

-------"With that established, what then is impurity? In the sense of what is referenced by those faithful of the Temple of the Silver Phoenix, impurity is characterized by actions of a foul nature. It is no wonder that there is much overlap between ‘lunn and impurity - but they are distinct. One who does not adhere to Cillari Law is impure. One who is not faithful to the Temple of the Silver Phoenix and the Mother is impure. One who is not of a pure Azari'cill bloodline of distinction is impure. One who bares all of these traits is particularly repulsive. It is a matter of fact that the Azari'lunn happen to fit this description the majority of the time."

-------"I ask, why is this so? Are they not Azari like us? Certainly their physical characteristics are of ill repute, but surely they can be put to better use than the work of whores and killers. The fact is that the men of the west- though they are not Azari and though they are impure are preferable to the 'cill eye than the 'lunn. Even the Orc, savage in its conduct is not so detestable as the 'lunn. Though in believing this, should not the mere thought that Azari so close to use to be so lowly be repulsive? Should not that mere fact be a heresy? The reality is that as much as we might shy away from it, Azari'cill and Azari'lunn are cut from the same cloth. We share a sacred ancestry. Though it was breached long ago by the wretched ingrate Fineall we cannot fool ourselves. What is done is done and cannot be undone. Never again will the Azari be recognizable as one race united. But this is a testament to an unfortunate truth. The ‘lunn are a reflection of the ‘cill’s great purity. Evidence that any great noble elf might fall down the ladder if adherence to the Tetheriani is not properly observed. We have seen countless examples even among the clergy of silver hearted Azari'cill falling into the deepest depths of impurity."

-------"It is what I call “The ‘lunn State of Mind”. It is a threat so significant that no one is safe from it and is a thing born out of weakness. Even the highest Azari‘cill in the land can be made to compromise. For example, let us say that a pure silver haired Azari’cill allows their daughter to cavort with an impure. The Tetheriani states clearly the importances of love for the family and community, so they can be made to look the other way when values come into conflict in order to maintain unity in the home. Compromises may lead to weaknesses forming in the foundation of belief. If one compromise might be made, how long until another? Why should an impure not be born from a pure family? The ladder is available for all to climb who display the appropriate faith and determination. Like the splitting of the Azari race, compromise and selfishness will lead to weakness. This weakness will engender a compromise of values leading to a fall down the ladder. A pure and good father in the eye of The Mother will accept acts of spoken vulgarity, irresponsibility and violence, all in the name of love. Acts of such a foul nature compound and become easier to commit with practice. Before long one might excuse slaughter in the name of the greater good."

-------"Compromise, selfishness and a lapse in responsibility are the pillars upon which the ‘lunn state of mind stands upon. They are simple, even appealing at times. Compromise can be made to ensure peace and peace is wonderful in the eyes of The Mother. When one has worked hard to climb the ladder, they might feel a twinge of selfishness in the purity they have labored to earn. Finally, one might feel exhaustion after such labors and occasionally lapse in their responsibilities to their family, to The Mother and to Luminion. We must be mindful not to step into the shades of these pillars, for when we do we risk a steep fall. When confronted with difficulty, a faithful Azari’cill must ask themselves; “could a compromise here cause harm further in the future”? If the answer is yes, you must hold firm - for the faithful are unwavering. Strength and determination will be the ideal path to follow to avoid observation of the ‘lunn state of mind". Only through adherence to The Mother and the Tetheriani can a soul be made pristine and wonderful."
