Oni, after leaving his house in Suncape, walks slowly looking for a place away from the other houses. He finds a lonely place with a rock of considerable size; he murmurs, "Perfect." It was midnight, the silence of the night enveloped the environment; only a few insects could be heard in the undergrowth; a gentle breeze was blowing in the dark night, it was a wonderful landscape, countless stars could be seen and the moon was shining like never before. Oni swung his sword quickly, cutting the air. The sound of the sword mixed with the breeze. Oni lifts his sword in front of him is the moon, the light is reflected by his sword. He looks at it for a few minutes, appreciating the beauty of its bluish color, the perfect edge, and its wavy shape.
"It's time to leave the past behind and make my own way."
Oni lowers his sword and goes to the big rock he had found, takes a big breath of air, frowns, concentrates his whole body, and, as if he were fighting for his life, begins to hit the rock with all his strength. That sword that accompanied him all his life since Kaito died, with which he swore to avenge him and make the murderer pay, that sword that was irreplaceable for Oni. Yes, that sword. That sword was being smashed against a rock. Every blow was with great anger, each blow he struck brought back memories. He struck as if it were the one he swore to kill to take revenge, but it was nothing more than a simple rock. How long was he hitting? ¿Seconds? ¿Minutes? Hours? He doesn't know, but when he decided to stop, the sun was already peeking over the horizon. Despite all the time he was hitting that rock, something prevented him from completely breaking the sword, as if something or someone had made him stop.
"Enough…"
After that day, Oni dedicated himself to working on his new weapon. Whether on purpose or not, the sword he started to make was similar to 'Tidecaller', but no, it was not the same. This sword was different, the metal was different, the weight was lighter, but the essence was reminiscent of his previous sword. Oni, after having it almost ready, observed it for a few minutes.
"The past cannot be forgotten, but I will change my future."
Oni knew that Kaito, in some way or another, was part of him. He thought that was the reason why his sword looked like Kaito's sword, although he wanted to do something different. Because of that, Oni decided to name his new sword 'Tideshaper', a small tribute to the person who gave him everything.
"I promised that I would avenge you. But I realized that it wasn't the right thing to do. It's something you wouldn't have wanted. I understand now. I'm sorry..."
Oni sheathed his new sword, and, after many years, he felt a great relief, that which tormented him so much, that insignificant and useless promise
All that was over...
