The Mask

Untitled_Artwork.jpg

<O>=<O>

The mask of the Doktor covered the entirety of the Doktor's face, starting from the forehead, around the cheeks, and stopping under the chin. A beak extends from the nose and mouth area to just under a foot, with a downward curve and an opening on both the right and left side.

The Exterior of the mask is made out of treated leather, with two large metal, hollow circles, containing a clear quartz lens fastened to each one. Underneath the leather of the forehead, cheeks, and faceplate sit thin metal plates, with further beneath that cotton padding, with leather sitting against the skin as a sealant.
Inside the beak sits two valves on either side- An intake valve, and an output valve. The intake valve consists of a steel cone, with metal grating on either side. A metal flap sits at the bottom of the cone funnel. The end of the cone leads to a hole outside the mask, while the maw of the cone leads further in. When air attempts to pass into the mask, the steel flap in the funnel will open as air is drawn in. When air is pushed out of the mask, this steel flap is forced closed by the opposing pressure. On the other side of the mask, a similar valve exists in reverse, allowing air to pass outside of the mask, but not in.

Through these valves sit a reservoir of herbs, a metal bowl with two cut holes for the valves, and another going inside. This bowl can be accessed from outside the mask via a metal lid with a leather sealant that is secured by an exterior buckle. This reservoir contains a tiny clip of where an ember can be kept smoldering against the herbs. When air is forced through the reservoir, the herbs are allowed to smoke and pass with it.

Adjacent to the reservoir, closer to the mouth sets a filter- A combination of finely threaded cotton and silk.

Operation of the mask means placing the mask over one's face, and tightening the belts at the top, and back of the head to create a seal over one's face. Herbs can be placed into the reservoir by the hatch at the top of the beak, which may be sealed by lowering the hatch until the leather pressed against the lid of the reservoir, in which case a buckle is used to tighten and secure the hatch. By breathing in, air is brought in through the intake valve, while the outtake valve will remain sealed. This air breaths into the ember in the reservoir, producing a copious amount of white incense that purifies the air. The air travels through the filter, and is inhaled by the wearer. Exhaling pushes air past the filter, and into the reservoir. The now used and impure incense is pushed with the air, out of the outtake valve. The outtake valve expels the air, and waste incense, into the open, and the process may repeat.

The Suit

<O>=<O>
The Plague Suit is a body encompassing mesh, starting from a tight hood around the head, coming all the way down the the toes. It's primary feature is the protection from adverse elements both in the air as well as that may be delivered onto the Doktor. A top layer of Burlap provides a rough protection against physical elements, as well as resistance to wet conditions, where as a second, thin layer of cotton provides a slight cushion effect, as well as insulation. A third layer of leather acts as a proper sealant, with a four layer of thin cotton acts as a separated between the leather and the body. A final layer of silk allows comfort during the wear of the suit.

The Suit is entered through it's back, where an opening started at the top of the back, and ending at the bottom of the spine, allows the wearer to 'step into' the suit. The legs are first taken, then the arms, and then finally, the hood is slide on. A series of buckles slings from the back opening, to the right side of the suit, allowing the wearer to tighten the suit and seal the entrance in.

A series of buckles sit just below the shoulders, above the elbows, below the thighs, and above the knees. In an emergency, these buckles may be tightened to seal penetrations to the suit, as well as act as a tourniquet in the case of a deep bleed, dramatically slowing bleeding, and slowing possible toxins.
