A CHANGING OF THE BERGWALD GUARD
Issued: Thunderday 12, Firstseed, 1543

Noblemen, my ladies, members of the cloth. Many have witnessed the despicable tragedy that was the late wedding of Lady Anne-Marie the Ruiter of Bergwald and Cedryck Tzyrnowski of Norbüren. On that day under the watchful gaze of our heavenly father, Alder, an intervention by Elric has been conducted to stop an unfaithful wedlock from being manifested. It was on this day that an earthquake was felt throughout the entire Empire, and now that the dust has settled, the crown must take a stance to uproot and decimate corruption within its ranks of the nobility. It is therefore that His Imperial Majesty, Diederick-Göbel von Lichtenfelts, Kaiser of the Hadrian Empire and Protector of the Realm has ordered a drastic change in the rotten ranks.

From this day forward, the following changes will come into effect:

  • House de Ruiter will have their claims on Bergwald revoked.
    • Anne-Marie de Ruiter is to be demoted to Grafin.
    • House de Ruiter loses its lordship and claim over Bergwaltz Province.
    • Anne-Marie, her family, and her following are to move to the Grand Duchy of Veronia where they will serve Grand-Duchess Ashlyn Moetiour as Grafin of Königstein as exiles.
    • House de Ruiter is not allowed to hold any future claim over the historic Hinterland provinces of Höltzland, Bergwaltz, The Southern Hinterlands, and Holstein.
    • House de Ruiter may not host or house any military order or militia without direct approval from the Reichsmarshall and the Arch-Duchess in their new homeland.
    • Lady Anne-Marie de Ruiter is strictly forbidden to enter Bergwaltz and or seek any (in)direct contact with her sister, Brita.
  • House van Leuveren will retain the following claims and titles.
    • House van Leuveren is not allowed to hold any future claim over any lands west of Adelsburg.
    • The Bergwald province is to be put under government of House van Leuveren including all claims and titles that come with it.
    • House van Leuveren's claim on the Southern Hinterlands is to be revoked.
    • Lady Brita van Leuveren is strictly forbidden to enter Veronia and or seek any (in)direct contact with her sister, Anne-Marie.

May Alder watch over us all and herald a new age of peace within the Hadrian Empire.

Katherina looked over the letter in her dim room with the sun setting, a lit candle by her desk as she sat on a cushioned chair. She found no need in re-reading such a decree. A rather pleased expression washed over her face once she was done, softly setting the piece of paper back down. “Silly peasant-nobles, I am glad I was not one to approve of that whole display.” The Prinzess seemed to go in further thought. Before she finally placed her palms against the desk to push herself up, finally sitting upon her bed. “All will fall into place. As it always does.” And with that, Katherina von Lichtenfelts slept the evening away.

As carriages made their way down the road, headed to a new settlement named Köningstein, cheerful songs and singing voices could be heard emerging from them. On one of them would be their new Countess, Anne-Marie de Ruiter, as she was reading the missive given to her by her Right Hand, Herr Spielmann.

"Fred not, my dear friends!" she raised the missive above her head, waving it with a smile "For a new chapter is only beginning! Free from the threats of our past. Good days lie ahead of us!" an unusual cheerful moment, considering circumstances. "We shall meet only friendly faces upon our arrival" she muttered to herself, looking back at the carriages behind them. And like said, she would see only friendly faces, not only locals, but her friends and family. The new Countess could only be pleased, as this was the step into the direction she herself wished to make. "The bittersweet days are behind us, a weight is falling off our shoulders, Alrick.
