An Introduction To The New Faith

*A small parchment would be seen pinned on the notice board of Raevendrecht. Traders and other foke spread the message beyond the borders to all*

At the beginning of the reign of Emperor Matthias Withmond, the clergy was at it's peak after a long time of religious inactivity. When Vater Factorius had gotten banished from the Hadrian Empire, the clergy was outraged. After the court proceedings of Vater Factorius after which the Vater was demoted from the position of the representative of the Maker on Terra to a measly citizen, it was the last straw for some.

A small group of disgruntled Makerist clergy made their way over to the Highland nation where they began preaching word against the Emperor as well as their own beliefs under secrecy in one of the buildings in Raevendrecht, amassing a small following. One day, notes were slipped under multiple houses in Raevendrecht, inviting the people to a secret gathering outside of Raevendrecht at the fallen log. Many attended and the Stadtholder intercepted one note. Brother Hauke, the leading clergyman behind the new faith had gotten arrested for heresy but soon released and granted the right to preach the religion to the populace.

The disgruntled clergy brought together with them a few beliefs which were far-fetched from the original Makerist church. They started calling themselves Scripturalists, for their undimmed loyalty to the Dictus which is regarded as the absolute truth and only the Dictus can be preached. Everything in it is holy and true. Power struggles in the earlier phases of Scripturalism led to the belief that they do not need higher-ups and that a hierarchy is suboptimal. They believe, that confession is a byproduct of corrupt Makerist thinking and one does not need a priest to speak to the Maker or repent of their sins. Instead, Scripturalists repent of their sins by penance, praying, pilgrimages, fasts and for the worst sin, staining of their honour, flagellation. Honour is considered to be the highest value given upon the people by the Scripturalists. Honour became a value protected by Sentinel Salvos, the Sentinel of pride and glory. Furthermore, the use of religious paintings is considered to be idolatry and is prohibited since it is thought of as distracting from prayer.

I wish to invite those, which wish to convert to Scripturalism to meet me in the town square on Marketday.
- Brother Hauke

........Micaiah, who stayed in Raevendrecht to help with the wounded, stopped to see the bland missive on the board. "You know, it makes for a nicer read if you make these corrections.. makes you seem legitimate." The doctor would lean down to the missive with his quill and ink, fixing the Brother's grammar. "... the clergy was at its peak.. When the Hadrian Empire banished Vater Factorius, the clergy was outraged... the last sentence of your first blurb is too wordy... Brother Hauke, arrested for his heresy, was the leading clergyman behind the new faith... remove the comma after they believe..."

........The doctor smiled wide, knowing he had helped Brother Hauke seem more legitimate in the eyes of potential followers who may not have joined due to the confusing propaganda flyer. "That ought to do it! He should be just fine with getting followers now!"
