An open letter to the religious scholars of the Mother's Faith, and any devout who concern
themselves with the health of the Church and the minds of the enlightened 'Cill population.

To whom it may concern,

Blessings upon you on this day. It has come to the attention of this author that the Church
is suffering quite badly, caught between the sparsely-heard teachings of an absent Priestess
and the lightning-charged preaching of one street zealot. Faithful of Luminion, what say you?
This author hopes such a great spiritual legacy is not tarnished by clinging to a leader who
does not lead. (This author also hopes the young and starry-eyed are not caught up in extremist
compulsions). Caught between this rock and hard place, please forgive this question-raising,
but in light of the whinging over purity placements and suspicion being cast upon every fair,
devout 'Cill in the land, this author must speak.

Why do the 'Cill allow themselves to be bogged down by this factionalism business? Structure
is a dear thing, but the state of the Church has devolved to bureaucracy. Are such trifles
not better left to the pencil-pushers? Should not the clergy be more occupied with helping
lift up their parish into the Mother's good embrace? After all, it is only by Her divine love
that 'Cill may be redeemed for their impurities. However instead of carrying out these duties
as shepherds of the faith, it seems a holier-than-thou attitude has become fashionable among
the higher ranks and they prefer bickering amongst themselves to bringing enlightenment
to their kinsmen. Keeping those who need Her aid the most as far from Her grace as possible
seems counterintuitive to Her message of generosity. It would seem to those on the outside,
and this author hates to point it out but can ignore it no longer, that the clergy are daring
to partake in overly-sanctimonious behavior… Should this author dare hope the zealot
overcomes, if only so that the Church would do something, provided of course, he can bring
his fiery views to heel? Or perhaps he might at least accomplish the momentous task of
rousing them from the comforts of their self-righteousness.

Is it now the mission of the clergy to impress upon the population that the Mother's love, divine
and boundless is, in fact, limited? After all, what are the priests of Her faith but enactors of
Her will and models of her virtue? What impressions of the Mother do their guarded, disgusted
demeanors set for the young? This author shudders to think of the heretical implications
of a God as grand as She being bound to the finite nature of a mortal heart, particularly one
so easily swayed by politics. Where is the unconditional love a divine Mother is capable of?
The Purity ranking exists to help 'Cill grow closer to Her, no? Or has the religion become so
steeped in mortal greed that the Ladder has been twisted to serve the ambitious and the title-
hungry? But even naughty children are still, at the end of the day, Her children. And mothers
everywhere will attest that despite transgressions, they love their children unconditionally.

After all, of all the titles for a divine matron, She is revered as Mother, and not Judge.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen of the Realm
