A possible End for the Imperial Inquisition

24, Sunfall, 1542

Aware of the problems highlighted by the Imperial Council regarding the Erzbishops and their Inquisitors in a recent letter, I am forced by State pressure to suspend indefinitely the careers of Imperial Inquisitors and the policing capabilities of the Erzbishops.

I am aware that these are historic careers that have been part of Hadriana's history for a long time.
However, the foundation of the Ministry of Magic and its Witch Hunters surpassed the religious Inquisition, thus making it obsolete.

It would not be possible for an Inquisitor to investigate a good part of society such as the nobility and their protégés under these conditions, with the lightness of spirit necessary for those who must judge impartially, and it would not be possible for an Erzbishop to carry out inquisitorial activities on the territory independently of the influences of the Ministry, which already has its recruited Witch Hunters.

Witch Hunters and Imperial Inquisitors are now a useless redundancy, which only complicates the bureaucracy of the Empire.

The police activity of the Erzbishops and their possible collaborators will be limited to reports to the Vater and to the public authorities, who therefore assume the responsibility of the Inquisition.

Should clergy personnel wish to continue to carry on Inquisition activity, they will need to ask the Ministry for Witch Hunter permission as is now the law.

The case will probably be addressed in Hadriana's next diet.
