The candidacy of Baroness Dominika van Gravendrecht
Dear friends, acquaintances and citizens of the republic.
In this letter I want to make clear to you why it is extremely important that I be allowed to lead you for another term.
First of all, I want to wish my counterpart enormous success in this election. I myself am also new to the election field as I was appointed in an emergency situation where there was a need for leadership. I hope the elections are fair and smooth. May the best win.
Herewith my promises if re-elected:
1. Trade & employment
1.1. Profession education
Because of our city expansion, which I brought to success, we now have tremendous work opportunities. Since I did not have a huge amount of time in recent weeks due to a tremendous amount of administrative work, I have not yet been able to fulfill this plan during my term. Since the elections are coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to just bring this to this. The idea reads that every citizen has the opportunity to be trained in a particular profession. This training would be in cooperation with the Academy, provided they agree to it. The purpose of these trainings is to prepare our citizens to enter into our economy and make it work so successfully.
1.2. Relations with other nations
Currently, Raevendrecht is functioning on its own; I would like to change this by building relationships with neighboring countries. What relationships and with whom would I like to discuss with everyone in the States General, so that everyone is happy about this.
1.3. Internal relations between workers and producers
At this very moment, we have our own North-Eden Trading company. In my second term as Grand Pensionary I would like to assure relations between this company and our workpeople. We must have optimal usage of this company and this by letting them work together with our workers. It is essentials that our own businesses keep running.
2. Architectural
2.1. The expansion of Nieuw-Wakkerdam
As many know, together with Jinx, I constructed a village focussed on farming in the southern parts of our lands. Right now it isn't very big, but I would like to expand this village to the west by clearing out the troll camp settled there. In this expansions we would make room for wind- and watermills. By doing so we will have access to more crops and so.
2.2. The construction of a courtroom
Since our Stadtholder recently appointed a Grand Judge, we are in dire need of a courtroom where this Judge can work. In addition to our expansion that we already made reality, I would like to construct a courtroom in the corner of our city, opposite of our Civil Office.
2.3. Further ideas for possible constructions
Apart from the previous mentioned constructions, it might also be a great addition to have a bathing house and a casino. These two would boost, not very much, our economy and give our people the possibility to relax and enjoy their time in Raevendrecht.
3. Insurance and medicine
3.1. Free healthcare and free insurance
I would like to offer every citizen of Raevendrecht free healthcare and free insurance. The insurance means that if anything happens to our citizens, and they have to go through something that could be expensive, our government would cover for it. This would be discussed with the doctors of Raevendrecht.
3.2. Medical training
At this moment we have one doctor. He must have lots of work pressure and has lots of work. By educating people to become doctors, I would like to solve this man's busyness. The medical training, offered by our government would be in cooperation with the Academy. This training would be completely free as we are in dire need of doctors and generally healers.
4. Military
4.1. Self defence courses
Due to the many things going on in Eden, I think it is necessary for our people to be prepared. With self defence courses I want to make this happen. The courses would be lead by our army, and won't be more than encouraged. Every citizen must have the opportunity to learn how to defend themselves and how to not use lethal ways.
4.2. Army camps in the woods south of our capital
Right now our army trains in our capital, but I want to change them. I want to offer General Berend Berendzoon full authority of the territory south of Raevendrecht. This territory would be completely used by our army and would serve as training grounds. The territory has many hills and such that occur in Eden. Because of these landscapes, our army can prepare on events that might find place in the future.
5. Culture
5.1. Religion
We recently constructed a beautiful church at our main square. But we are in dire need of a leader. If I get re-elected I want to make sure religion becomes an important part of our nation again. The church would be an individual institute with no influence in the government, so we remain a democracy. Beside this I would also like to debate about more religions in Raevendrecht. We currently have every known race in our republic and I would like that everyone feels welcomed and that they can express themselves how they want.
5.2. Community day
Our community is a very important factor in Raevendrecht. Everyone knows everyone. Because of this I would like to host an anual community day where all citizens have the opportunity to get information about how they can open a business or work somewhere. It would be a day where people who need help can seek it, so we stay close to each other and make sure everyone is doing well.
5.3. Trading & harvest festival
Every year, when we are lucky, we have a successful harvest. In combination, if it is this way, with a successful year of trades, I would like to host festivals to celebrate such matters. As mentioned in my previous idea, it is again to bring our people together and celebrate the good.
6. Finances
6.1. Civil taxations
In my second term as Grand Pensionary I would like to reassure that our nation remains TAX-FREE. We replaced the taxation-system with a donation system that works very well. Some citizens weren't able to afford normal taxations, but we can't put people on the street. Because of the donation system, the wealthy would donate money to the state when needed so the poor shouldn't have.
6.2. Business taxations
To end, I would like to introduce business taxations to our Republic. It would be a percentage of their income. The percentage is a matter I would like to discuss with the Estates General.
