Player Announcement Wisdom Earned through Trial by Fire

(No metagaming peoples!)

A certain voodoo Lunn read through all the new papers coming in. Day by day by day he was growing to resent his position. Time and again he was promised change, improvement, something that would bring his people closer together. He tried unceasingly in the council to advocate for others, but was met with naught but ridicule and failure. There was not much an event manager could say to alleviate the corruption at the nation’s heart, even though he wanted to help so badly. Aeg could’ve sworn, SWORN things would’ve gotten better when she came back. She promised so much to the council, and so much was planned to be delivered. But now… silence. All this talk of coups and brutality weighed on him, really making Aeg question if his loyalty to the sultanate was worth it anymore. At the same time, the ones who seemed to be in on it preached the very thing he spent his entire career fighting, the one goal all his supposed falsehoods were aiming to protect against: Hatred. To deny all high elves citizenship, to bar them from the desert.. it was only a matter of time before all other races would be looked upon in the same light, including his own fellow kin. He remembered Shalia, he remembered his Orc friends, Rennyn, the dwarves who gave him such warm welcome on his travels, all those people of variety. Would they be barred from the desert? Would this hatred come to wrap around and ensnare his own people as well, as it had Luminion? Would some form of debased purity system come to possess Anjyarr like the glade? The gargantuan amount of self hatred that could consume all when supposed enemies ceased to exist? Aegnern simply could not have it. But still… the amount of rot and ruin that came to Anjyarr under the Nobaras.. was it really worth it? Were they damned if they did, damned if they don’t? It was unclear, all of it really. The dark elf sighed and left his home, deciding to find his answers at the palace he served in for all these long years. He paused at the ballroom, remembering ages ago when he sat by the hookahs playing riddles and games. It was quiet now, as everything that was being discussed was happening in shadows elsewhere outside the walls. Aegnern moved on, going upstairs to see if Nahida was still lounging. He knocked upon the door, but the moment his hand tapped the thing, it swayed to the side. Someone went in before him it would appear, and left the door ajar. He entered, and simply stood there, jaw agape at the mess. She had fled. The room was in upheaval, just as their home was. She lied, to all of them. The Nobaras betrayed their people and council both. After everything they’ve been through, through all the hardship and harassment, Nahida had left them to wither and die on the vine. His choice was made. Aeg took out an old weathered token, one he thought he’d never have need of again. One he thought no longer useful, as he was promised that the sultanate would address all those issues from before. With those promises broken in pieces like the room before him, Aegnern wore his Dark Star.

“Al’ana time in this mockery of a government is at its end. Ana am so tired… anat need change. But Ana can’t let hatred enslave al’anat home.. Ana shall do what Ana must for al’ana people, for al’ana kin, for al’ana friends… Anat must forge this land anew, but keep freedom and equality for all. Ana shall fight, and fight hard for this.. Let the council burn itself out… al’ana energies are better spent elsewhere.. with those Ana love.”

With that, Aegnern turned, leaving his past behind him. The future was now, one that could either seal Anjyarr’s doom if it fell into depravity, or one that would bring it forth into the light and burn away the corruption at its core. The fire that burned within him guided Aeg onwards, readying himself to make up for the sins of his order and bring peace back once more to Anjyarr. No more lies, no more false promises: the people must know.
