Nation Announcement OOC - Laughing while you Shiv & Our Goals for Montevenna

Howdy, I'm writing this to give an outline of what kind of RP we want for Montevenna so people can get an idea of what to expect, and what steps we're going to be taking to achieve them. Broadly, these are:
  1. Fun Conflict RP. Far too often political & drama rp on servers degenerates into an OOC crapshoot, where as soon as someone makes a forum post a thousand DMs get fired off and everyone ends up unsatisfied by the result. We want Montevenna to be the kind of place where you can get a gang, march into a district and, declare its yours - Then someone else can tell you to fuck off and you both get into a big street brawl while enjoying every second of if because both you and the person you're fighting are having fun and are in good spirits OOCly. We want a enviroment with lots of conflict and cutthroat political RP that's fun without all the usual toxicity.

  2. Troublemaker Leadership. Montevenna's relationship with it's leadership is a bit different, because the City Council doesn't exist to run the nation as much as it does to provide RP. We don't want characters that are motivated by saying protecting their friends and family and interests, because while those are valid motivations, they require someone else to come and mess with them first. Instead, we want Gang Leaders, Religious Fanatics, Power Brokers, anyone that's going to use their position to start trouble because that'll give the rest of the city a chance to roleplay off of them. Council seats we be primarily given to those who demonstrate good OOC behaviour, are able to lead a group, and can effectively create activity for the city and the server.

  3. Turf Wars. To facilitate both of these, we'll be organizing internal conflicts as Montevenna gets opened. Some of the ideas we've pitched are declaring that a district will be fought over, and whoever can establish control gets to be recognized as it's leader for the next month til' the next conflict - This isn't the only example (we'll also be doing plenty of politicking!), but it does a good job of illustrating the kind of RP we want to go for and how we're going to do our best to give players things to do besides your usual tavern RP.
With all that said, I'm extremely happy with how far we've come thusfar and I look forwards to our roleplay. See you in the City : )
